Lubec Ridge Gardens

Oh My!  We were in Wildflower Heaven once again!  Gardens and gardens of beautiful things!  First we were greeted by a meadow of Camas, and it just kept getting better and better!  Here are a few of them:

Pasqueflower seedheads with Larkspur, Groundsel and Serviceberry.
Paintbrush, Yellow Parsley, Biscuitroot, Larkspur
Camas, White Chive, Yellow Agoseris, Groundsel
Larkspur, White Chive, Shooting Star, Prairie Star

Blue Camas, Prairie Star, Calf Robe Mountain
We returned to Lubec hoping to find more Pygmy Bitterroot and  Orobanche fasciculata.  We had seen both of these on June 1st, but hadn't quite gotten our fill.  The Orobanche was EVERYWHERE; it was literally hard to move anywhere without stepping on it.  And to think we thought this was a rare flower!
OK, it's not rare, but it would be easy to miss.

Orobanche Gardens:
Blue Camas, White Chive, Orobanche, and Stonecrop.

Almost overlooked the Pygmy Bitterroot!
Still as lovely as last week!

As you can tell from the photos, we had beautiful weather and sunshine!  Lynn and I made another flower list on the way home and we counted 80 different flowers this time!  This is truly a magical place for us flower nerds!

We spent hours just wandering through these amazing meadows, intoxicated on the beauty, multitude and variety of blooms.  On the way out of the area, we knew of a spot where Lynn had seen Ladyslipper last year.  We had missed them on the way in, but there in the afternoon light, we found them.

Another inspiring day in God's creation!
