From Cactus to Columbine!

We went up to the Cloudcroft Lodge for breakfast this morning in Wesley's 1930 Model A Ford!  Wow!  First time in a rumble seat!

Later, Wilma and I took a short wildflower drive.  Again, this has been a hard year for plants to grow, but she knew where to find some beauties.
Sweet Pea must grow everywhere!
Locust Tree

This is what a Cholla cactus bloom looks like (not yellow)!

Only one Prickly Pear cactus bloom, but lots of buds, so we should see more of this.

We stopped at a place along the road where there was a spring on the hillside
and it was covered with this variety of Yellow Columbine

Musk Thistle or Carduus nutans; and here I thought purple thistle was purple thistle!
Bull Thistle or Cirsium vulgare, and a Swallowtail friend

We got back to the house just before a rainstorm!  Hurray!  We had a good soaking rain and needed it badly!!!
