Heaven

On Saturday Lynn and I hiked up the Loop Trail to Granite Park and on to Swiftcurrent Pass.  Five miles UP!  But nearly the whole time we were accompanied by the beautiful Heaven's Peak.

Since this is such a photographic mountain, I started trying to put it in the background of my flower photos.  Then it started being an idea for the blog, and "let's see how many flowers we can get in front of Heaven."
Engleman Aster

Notice the "shingled" bracts below the ray-petals;
this is one identifier for aster vs. fleabane

Lyall's Penstemon

Cow-Parsnip

Beargrass

Valerian

That Lynn is so sneaky with her camera!

Wild Hollyhock
Well it was a fun theme to try anyway.  Stay tuned for the rest of our hike and the rest of the alpine beauties we saw.
