Wildflower hiking season has officially started for Anna and Lynn, flower-nerds extraordinaire! On Saturday, April 27th we went hunting for early blooms on Crane Mountain outside of Bigfork. (right after we hit the quilt store...) We weren't disappointed!

some of them had pink stamens, white ones, and even a really dark red color. |

Back to the Glacier Lilies; they had just started opening and were in different stages of flower-frustration! :-)

I think we'll try to keep a list of what we see on each hike, until the list gets too long! This early in the season, the foliage and buds "count" almost as much as the blossoms! These flowers were in bloom:
Glacier Lily, Shooting Star (1), Yellowbell, Bluebell, Biscuitroot, Spring Beauty, and Buttercups. Foliage included: Lupine, Larkspur, Balsamroot, Honeysuckle, Meadowrue, Nodding Onion, Strawberry, Alumroot, and Kinnikinnick.
